Keepers at Home and Contenders for the Faith Clubs are:
Bible-based and Christ-centered
Not specifically affiliated with any denomination
Totally affiliated with the Word of God
Clubs are autonomous (exempt from external influence)
What are these clubs?
Contenders for the Faith is currently for ages 6 through 14, although some groups are using it through age 16. Club meetings feature a group assembly time in which character lessons, as well as everything a Christian boy needs to learn to prepare him to be a man are taught. The remaining club meeting time is spent learning "hands on" skills. Achievement badges are awarded as the requirements for each skill are completed.
Keepers at Home is the program for girls covering ages 6 to 18. A group assembly time features singing, awards, and lessons to prepare the girls for their future roles as help meets, mothers, and keepers at home. The remaining time is spent on learning many crafts and practical skills. The younger girls work through the Keepers at Home Handbook and can earn beautiful achievement badges. Teens work through the Joy of Womanhood book and replicas, if desired, are available to be worn on a bracelet. The Joy of Womanhood is often used by mothers and daughters together. It is being enjoyed by women of all ages, even in Bible Studies and Sunday Schools. It is the first book in a series.
Who can use it?
CHURCH: Keepers of the Faith can be used by churches for their members as well as an outreach ministry to their communities. Boys enjoy making productive things. Girls love creating beautiful items. Each boy and girl represents a family which can be reached for the Lord. The program can be used on Sunday evenings before church, Wednesday evenings, visitation evenings, or Saturday mornings.
SUPPORT GROUP: Keepers of the Faith is an excellent addition to a home schooling program. Each parent contributes unique skills and all the children benefit. Keepers of the Faith believes in parents working with their children. It provides the structure to add so much beyond academics. It develops well rounded, godly men and women, the Christians of tomorrow.
FAMILY: This program is an absolute family builder! It is being used as effectively in a single family setting as any other. Dads and sons and moms and daughters are learning together, and enjoying it at the same time. This program is non-competitive. Competition can discourage creativity and even participation. This program rewards character, perseverance and achievement The real race is not to the swiftest.
Can it be used with other programs?
Absolutely! Keepers of the Faith will positively complement any other program or curriculum. If you are not using another program at present, you will find Keepers of the Faith quite comprehensive.
Why Keepers of the Faith programs?
More than ever before in the history of our country, there is a tremendous need to teach our young people to be keepers of the faith, the faith which God has given us through His Word and has been handed down to us through the diligence and courage of past generations. The need to endow our children with practical skills while incorporating Christianity in every facet of life has never been greater. We must be sure that our children develop abilities to deal with all the complexities of life in a society which will try their faith at every turn. This program will provide the tools and the structure for the Christian family and church to do so.
How is Keepers at Home and Contenders for the Faith different?
Why not step beyond a politically correct scouting program in which a Christian might not feel completely comfortable at activities, or with the materials furnished by a central committee? Are you tired of pretending to be neutral? Give your children a program that Jesus could join. These programs are specifically for Christians. They are designed to promote biblical values while teaching practical skills to produce capable, balanced Christian adults. Many programs stress Bible memory and good music, which are both excellent and necessary. The Keepers of the Faith program goes further to encourage biblical family values while developing a diversity of skills. The program, in a church, encourages the church and family to join hands in learning. Thus, church and the family grow stronger together.
WHAT IS NEEDED?
Each child needs a handbook to record progress on each of the seventy badges. A single handbook is used from age 6 through 14. For the adults, a Parents' Guide is available with scores of ideas, methods and teaching tips. For larger groups (five or more families), a Starter Kit contains all the necessary knowledge for anyone to easily organize a club. We give you the tools to organize the club to suit the needs of your individual group.
