Truly this is one of the finest, most Christ-centered books we have read. You will see Jesus on page after page of this story. Bede's Charity is the story of a woman whose daily life was a continual reflection of her love for, and trust in, the Lord Jesus Christ. She denied self for the good of her family; she took up her cross wherever it lay; she praised the Lord in all situations and found contentment in life despite nearly unbelievable adversities. Through the pages of this book, you will see Jesus, and His love and care for a solitary soul. This story will encourage you and inspire you to live for Him, Who did so much for us. KOF Old Reprint.

Product Image Add To Cart   But Not Forsaken
This excellent book is a true story written for adults, but the whole family would benefit from this book. Maria and Hans Penner were Mennonite refugees from the Russian Ukraine. They forged west with their family through communist East Germany. They were tragically separated, and each feared the other was lost or slain. Hope against hope, they each continued separately toward their flight for freedom, where ultimately they each needed to cross the German border. It is a gripping story, a story of trials, treachery, tragedy, and triumph. There is a struggle for food, freedom, and faith—it is a challenging report of a family persecuted, but not forsaken! God's love and faithfulness are shown in His care and provision for them. Highly recommended.

On a scale of 1 to 5, this is a 10! God is surely wonderful to bring such excellent books to our attention. This is a true story set in the 1500's. It is about the Anabaptists and the tremendous persecution of them by the religious and political powers of their day. Their faith was great, and their love for their enemies was truly the love of God shed abroad in their hearts. We have seldom read anything like this book. It is heartily recommended for all teens and adults. These people were real Christians. It is possible that we will see similar difficult days in our own lives as our country becomes more liberal and the end times come closer. This book will teach in a very real way how we should live and love our enemies.

This is another true and excellent account of an Anabaptist family continually moving and searching for a place to live where there is religious freedom. Eventually the family comes to America in 1874. They settled in the Dakota territory facing all manner of pioneering hardships. We have absolutely no reason to complain in our generation, no matter how little we have. Even the poorest among us has wealth untold compared to these first settlers. The trials of this woman's life would overwhelm most of us, and yet, she did not complain, but trusted God until she went home to heaven. Recommended age would be teen to adult.

This is actually the same story as Dilek except it is the parents’ story, and what a story it is! It begins with the prosperous life of a Mennonite family settled in Russia. The revolution begins, and they lose everything overnight. Hans & Netta wait for almost ten years before they are able to marry. Years are spent in Siberia. Words cannot express what these people went through, their enduring faith in God, and God's care and provision for them. You will not be able to put this book down.

This is an amazing and captivating book. It is the story of how progress came to Henry and his dear wife Esther. They were determined that progress would not change them, but it did. To some extent, it is the story of all of our lives. You will never be the same after reading this book. How we deal with "progress" or opportunity inevitably determines our value system and direction regardless of our intended values and course of action. This story paints a lurid image of how bondage, debt, and sometimes hopelessness creep into our lives totally unawares, despite our best intentions. This should be required reading for all, especially those just starting their adult lives who need to know the facts about what they will soon be feeling about the needs of life, and facing on the issue of financial accountability.

If you think you have a hard life, you need this book. I had to ask God to forgive me for ever thinking life was hard. This dear lady suffered untold heartaches. Her only comforts were the verses she learned as a child in Sunday School because she was never allowed to go to church, and did not have the money to buy her own Bible. Her love of God carried her through. This is a good book.

Product Image Add To Cart   My Little Corner
This is one of Mrs. Walton's exceptional stories. It is the simple story of a woman who lived in the same house on the same block from the first day of her marriage until the end of her life. The story recounts priceless lessons. A tragedy occurred which would have destroyed most marriages, but instead strengthened hers, and brings her husband and herself into a living, vital relationship with Christ. She learns to keep her priorities in the right order. There is a powerful lesson on the sometime dangerous influence others may have on your children. In her "little corner" she learned to let the light of Christ shine through, and became a true servant of His by ministering to her lost neighbors. Trials came and went throughout her life, and through them all, she was a blessed example—one for us to follow too! KOF Old Reprint.

Product Image Add To Cart   Princess in Calico
On a scale of 1 to 5, this is a 10. This should be required reading for every teenage girl, wife and mother! It is the story of a teenage girl who lives a difficult life, is able to escape it for a better life, finds Jesus, matures in her walk, and then must make the choice to go back to the difficult life to fill needs or continue in the enjoyable life. The great beauty of this book is the deep spiritual teaching of living above one's circumstances—and not just living above, but living victoriously. The book teaches how to have the joy of the Lord instead of a complaining and depressing attitude, rejoicing in Him above circumstances, and finding the great jewel of contentment. Housework becomes an altar; serving becomes grateful obedience to the Lord. This little story showed me what Jesus would like me to be. It made me cry over my sins and renew in my heart a purpose to become a princess in calico for my King.

This true story starts out slow but ends up wonderfully. It was originally published as a serial in Youth's Companion in 1949 and has recently been brought back into print. Thes is a true story about real people living in less than desirable circumstances. They struggle to make ends meet. It is the story of a lonely boy who feels that he is unloved, and he is not able to come to a true saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. He, Millard, grows up and enters the military during World War II against his parents' wishes. His parents, Mennonites, hold the belief of non-resistance to the evil forces in the world. Millard, during the heat of the battle, with fellow soldiers dying at his side, calls upon God to save his soul. It is a moving struggle for the truth and light in a dark and evil world. It is a very good book and will provoke one's thinking.
