There are projects and patterns scattered throughout the book. If you can only purchase one book, make it this one.

If you have been longing to try your hand at stenciling, this is a great how-to book. Its instructions are easy enough for a beginner to successfully stencil. Instructions are given for stenciling on wood, walls, fabrics, notebooks, paper, dishes, clay pots, and just about any other surface! The pictures are large and colorful and the instructions are very plain.

I wish I had found this book sooner! So often, we admire beautiful decorative painting, and wish we could paint as well. Our problem is that we try to duplicate what we see with just a few brushes never fully realizing all the tools that are available, which produce such amazingly different effects. This book is a complete guide to 19 brushes—their shapes and their uses. It has many wonderful, full-color pictures providing many examples for the user. Many different painting strokes are covered as well as a section for caring for brushes. I would think this would be an essential book for anyone who really wants to learn the skill of decorative painting. (Decorative painting is often called Tole Painting.)
