Skills Needed for Keepers
One of the things that we have really enjoyed about our Keepers/Contender's Clubs has been the opportunity for our children and other church children to learn from other qualified adults in our church body. For example, when one of our girls, Breanna, had a desire to work on her drawing badge, her mother contacted another lady at our church who is an accomplished artist. She was able to teach Breanna many of the aspects of the drawing badge that her own mother could not, that would be difficult to learn thru a book. It also served to bridge a "generation gap", and help connect Breanna to older women in our church. They have a very special friendship that came from that lesson time. We also have utilized the talents of many other church members for group meetings, such as astronomy, foreign languages, flower arranging, etc. It has really helped the children to get to know other people in our congregation, and for the congregation to feel "invested" in our children. A wonderful combination.
