Perler Beads for Beading Award

Since there are no requirements in the handbook for beading we made up our own. The beads we decided to work with are called perler beads. These are beads that you place on a plastic form and when the design is complete you place wax paper over them and iron. The beads fuse together. These beads are easy to work with for boys and girls of all ages! http://www.perlerbeads.com/ is their web site. It's full of great info about the products! We will require the children to complete 3 beads projects following a pattern and allow them to make one up on their own. Once they complete the projects and they are shown to the leader, the children will have completed the badge. This is somewhat time comsuming so allow several meetings for this. Have fun!  (Statesboro, GA)

Note:  The new Keepers at Home Handbook has new requirements for this skill.
