This is a very sad but true story about a small family pulled apart by war and grief. It is a story about God's love and provision for His own in the midst of the crushing effects of war and the evil of mens' hearts. Although this is billed as a children's story, much of the story is above the hearts and minds of children, for it is really two stories?one of the children, and one of the parents. There are some graphic elements in this story, so we recommend that parents should read it first. Heartrending, yet heart warming, it is a riveting story for young and old.

Our family got this book in the mail on Monday. By Thursday, I (the mom) and 5 of our children had read the book, including a teenage boy who rarely reads unless required to do so. This is a book you cannot put down! The Providence of God and the faith of the characters is very encouraging. The fact that it is a true story makes it all the more amazing.

I would like to write this message to the whole Zakula family. I wanted to say thank you to all of you!! It is so nice to use books for my children and not be afraid of what they might read. Especially for our school books, and subjects like science and history.
