I bought this book to read aloud to younger children and I wanted them to read it for themselves when they got older. The concept is neat. The kids have a problem and a proverb is shared that relates to the problem and then the parents also tell a story. However I was very disappointed with the adult content in several of the stories. The stories about the children fighting among themselves or having little problems were great! But some of the stories that the parents told to illustrate the proverb I felt were more for a high schooler. One thing that the mom tells the kids about is a drunk teenager neighbor riding a 4 wheeler and then getting in an accident and having some of his fingers cut off. In another story the young children were pretending to be drunk and stagger around (a weird thing for young children to play) and their dad comes in and tells them how drunk drivers kill people. There were seveal other stories that end with people dying. They will find out soon enough about the evils of this world, I don't need a book bringing questions and fears to their minds. I will have to leave this book on the shelf and only use for read alouds so I can skip over the stoies that I don't think are a good fit for my family.
