This wonderful story is about the struggles of a girl named Esther (named after Ester Ried). She came from truly godly missionaries, who were dirt poor but loved the Lord and counted everything in life as all joy in service to their King. But it was not so with Esther; she often found it difficult to be happy and content; she had a quick tongue that was hard to control; she often felt like she was a failure, and could not seem to attain the faith of her parents. It is a story of contrasts—hearts who live and breathe Christ, and those who either struggle to do so, or may simply not be His. Your heart will be challenged as you read this! KOF Old Reprint.

Review by: Patience in Murray, IA
Ester Reid Randall is the central character of this sixth book in the Ester Reid Series, named after her father’s friend’s sister. She was born into a poor missionary family, but is tired of trying to live up to the girl she was named after. During college, she gets a job as a maid, but the family’s inconsistent times and lack of schedule makes her irritated. Ester’s intimate friends, Faith Farnham and Blanche Halsted, are unsaved, and influence her partly, and Ester grows closer to a certain Professor Langham. Will Ester give up self and pride and bow the knee to God, or will her parents be grieved when she arrives back home? A wonderful edition to this inspiring series! I was blessed by this account, for my tongue can be too quick sometimes. Ester Randall’s story is a great one to read!

Last night my 12 year old came in with tears because she was moved by the spiritual lesson in one of Alden's books and we stayed up to midnight talking about it. (that is why I bought 12 KOF books for her last week for her birthday next week) Thank you.
