I read the book Kept for the Master’s Use, by Frances Ridley Havergal in1879. This timeless book challenged me to re-evaluate my life to see if I am holding anything back from the Master’s use. What hinders us from giving ourselves wholly to Him? Truly, it’s because we don’t fully realize what He did for us, does for us, and is to us. Moreover, I need to trust Him “to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day” (2 Tim. 1:12). How many struggles would be avoided if only we truly relied upon His promise, “I, the Lord, do keep it, I will keep it night and day.” Our lives reflect how much we’ve really allowed Jesus to take and keep—the more of ourselves that we give and entrust, the more effective we will be as Christians.
