A Dozen of Them is a delightful story about a young boy and his adventures with a dozen Bible verses. He and his older sister are orphans. She is not old enough to obtain work that will support both of them, so he goes to live with a family on a farm where he is to be a general help. His sister gets him to promise to pick from a list one Bible verse each month to live by for twelve months. And then the adventure begins. KOF Old Reprint.

I really liked this book because the main character Joseph had no parents but he still did the right thing most of the time. His sister Jean was a responsible girl who went to college and studied hard in school. I think it was helpful for Joseph to have such a good example in his big sister. For me it’s hard to always do the right thing. If no one is around, I feel more tempted to do something I ought not to. I like that Joseph did the right thing even when no one was around. It is a good encouragement to me and I know I will think on Joseph when I feel tempted.

I read the book A Dozen of Them, written by Isabella Alden in 1888, and published by Keepers of the Faith in 2001.
I was truly blessed by reading A Dozen of Them. Joseph’s example of listening to his older sister, Jean, by memorizing a Scripture verse each month, reminded me how important it is to listen to wise counsel. It amazed me how often the verse he had memorized kept him out of trouble! I desire to remember, just like Joseph, that Jesus is always watching me. Also, I was encouraged by Jean’s trust in God that He would take care of her brother and protect him from evil.

I read A Dozen of Them. This is about a young boy named Joseph. Joseph and his sister are orphans. He is staying with a family, and his sister, who is working in the city, gave him a dozen Bible verses in a little book. He picks one a month to learn and use. He does this for a year. I’d say that the first and last story in the book are probably my favorites. The book has helped me learn that using Bible verse’s for a week or a month is good and I have been doing it for a month or two and it has helped me a lot. Have a great day.
