"He that winneth souls is wise." Proverbs 11:30 Louise is a passionate soul winner. She selflessly sets out to win her in-laws to the Lord, but they are a hard group of people to win! She bears many insults and mean comments to try and win them over to the Lord. Louise begins to loose faith as the family makes little progress and then starts to fall apart. Will they ever get saved? Many interesting topics are dealt with in this book. Can Christians become jealous of other Christians' fruit? (pg. 155) How should you respond when someone says, "I won’t be a Christian because Christians don't act how they should? (pgs. 150 & 151) Can you do housework and mundane tasks for the Lord? (pgs. 167-169) How should we respond when someone just won't repent and be saved? (pg. 201) Does our excitement for the Lord have to fade? (pgs. 161 & 162) In this book is also a lesson on how the lady of the house can oppress an entire household with a cold, rigid, and stubborn spirit. I gave this book 4 stars because of the gloomy characters and setting. This isn’t like other Alden books with beautifully decorated homes, and discussions between friends. Much of the book is depressing, however the spiritual lessons make it worth the read.

Louise Morgan just married Lewis Morgan and moves to the country to live with her husband and his family. Growing up in a city, country life sort of appeals to her, but little did she know how rude and sour his family actually is -- and all of them are unsaved. Louise prays for guidance and strength to reach these members for Jesus, even though the Morgan family treats her so poorly by their actions and words of unkindness. Through Christ she triumphs, and her faith and testimony shines through even the most darkest and hopeless of mortals. Lewis is an excellent example of a good husband, and this book showed me how to witness to unsaved family members. A New Graft on the Family Tree will keep you reading to the end, and will surely be a good one for your bookshelf, personal or family.

Your Comments!
I received your catalog and learned so much about applying the Bible to every day life just by reading your catalog! Your explanation of how you choose books brought conviction to me about how I have chosen my entertainments in the past and I am praying to make changes based on your biblical example and arguments. I have ordered as many as I can afford right now and plan to just check off each one until I own everything that you sell. Thank you for all of the care that you put into your selections and for being trustworthy.
