Chrissy is such an interesting character—a confident eighteen-year-old. She's a good member of her church, but is she really a believer in the Lord Jesus? She has high moral standards according to her family and church, but are they the standards of her Saviour? In her efforts to do good, is she really doing good? Is busyness for the Lord equal to serving Him? These and many more questions will be answered by Chrissy's challenges. A very life-changing book!

Chrissy's Endeavor was a really good book - at the beginning. It made me question my dedication to the Lord. Just because we go to church or because we said a prayer doesn't mean that we are true believers. Chrissy learns this in the book and then she goes on to form a Christian Endeavor Society, but she really isn't serving the Lord. She busies herself so much that she has no time for her family and the focus of the society is not in the right place. Once she realizes her mistakes, she sets the society in order and begins it again. What I didn't like about it was the ending. A Christian Endeavor Society girl named Nellie Tudor marries an unchristian man named Chess Gardner. Although she isn't one of the main characters in the story, Nellie's action was not a good example to read about. Christians should not be unequally yoked with unbelievers! The Bible tells us this in 2 Corinthians 6:14. This is the reason I only gave the book two stars. Before you buy this book for someone, beware that a Christian girl marries a non-believer in it. Other than that the book was very interesting and thought-provoking.

“You got to read Chrissy’s Endeavor now. It is such a wonderful book!” was the cry of my younger sister. I promised I would, though I privately thought that it didn’t look as good as some other KOF books that I had read. My, was I mistaken! Chrissy Hollister’s story is a valuable one, and is very challenging. I couldn’t put it down, and thoroughly loved it from beginning to end, and learned much from it. This confident young woman who comes from a wealthy unsaved family, is thrown in the midst of youth who are vibrant workers for God. She enters the “valley of decision” where she must choose her side, life or death. What will she pick? Read all about it in this Alden classic! A must-read for teens especially. There is a sequel to it, so I recommend buying both because the first book ends in a dreadful spot. Rated five stars!

This book was excellent and really emphasizes the fact that being a Christian isn't just a title but a way of life. It really challenges the reader to serve with "all your heart".

Buy the 2-book set, the 1st does end abruptly! Crissy thinks she has it all and right, until her self is challenged as to what she actually believes and stands for. Eventually she must be honest with herself, as we all should. After her self struggle and decision, she has to live her decision all the time, and continue to grow in the Lord Jesus, amidst family ridicule, will she succeed? I'll let you find out for yourself!

Thanks so much! My children are loving our Keepers nights. We have only been doing it a few months, but we are all enjoying it. It gives me a wonderful (scheduled) time with my girls and my husband time with our sons which we had never really made happen. It's a blessing in more than one way.
