McGuffey's First Reader begins with short stories of a few paragraphs and moves to stories of over three pages. Use would begin on page 4 of Reading Workbook Series 3 Quarter 1. Most words are phonetically regular. A few have silent letters. The words get as hard as "would," "stalked," or "engaged." Stories are about children who love God and desire to learn.
